Storms & Cross Country

Today on the news they said that the storm we had last night was the biggest since the one we had in 1996, 12 years ago. It made me remember....that storm 12 years ago. I was out running with the cross country team when it hit. It was so crazy. We were running and it started to get a little dark (yea! some relief from the sun) and then it got a little windy (yea! relief from the heat) and then it started to rain a little (Oh nice we can cool off a little) All the while we are running and having a good Ole time. All of a sudden the wind really got strong and the rain started to pelt us and then debris started to swirl around us and we were freaking out and trying to get back to coaches house. I mostly remember the rocks, the rocks were like little missiles shooting us, they were being shot at us from every direction. Hitting us all over our bodies, and if you didn't know, everyone in Phx has rock's in their front yard, there was no way to dodge them, just run as fast as you can. We made it to coaches house, and then we all hunkered down in his basement. I thought for sure the glass was going to break out of the windows at any second. We were there for about an hour before we felt safe enough to load into the van and go back to the school. The drive was awesome. There were trees, cacti, trash and Porta Potties scattered everywhere. Yes a Porta Pottie, it was up side down in the middle of the road. All the street lights were out, it took forever to get home. Oh well, good thing my boyfriend was there to cuddle up with! Good times!!

Here are the girls on the cross country team. Can you tell Coach is giving us a little pep talk!! And yes I am wearing shorts under that shirt!! And if you really can't tell thats me all the way to the right.

I remember that storm it was terrible. We had horses get out in our neighborhood and they were running up and down the street. It was crazy! I can't believe that you were running it that storm. You guys are all lucky that no one got hurt.

I remember that night too, My nephew was born that night. We had to go back home from scottsdale to get a few things and the storm had already hit. It was crazy, trees down everywhere!
